What Is Glow?

Glow is a FREE to attend gathering for young people aged 11-17 to come together to encounter God’s presence, learn to live distinctively in their generation, and creatively grow in unity, community, and belonging. Each gathering features a core theme and a time for worship, teaching, prayer, hospitality, and opportunities for young people to share and lead. 

Glow is a great space to meet new people, deepen faith and learn how to make an impact in your local community. We aim to address the feeling of isolation that many Christian young people in the Southwest experience, as they often believe they are the only Christians in their area. Come to one of our events and join the Glow Family!

Our Theme
This Year

Over the next year we’re going to be asking ourselves one simple question... ‘IF God really loves us, what does that mean?’. We’ll be unlocking what it really means to be loved by God, through RESTING, REFLECTING, and REACHING.

What happens at Glow?

Every session is slightly different, but at our the core of Glow is four key elements: Worship, Testimony, Teaching, and Hubs (breakout sessions). These elements combine to create an engaging and meaningful experience for young people to connect with God and make new friends.

17:15 - Doors Open (Free Food & Games)

On arrival you’ll present your ticket (or give your name) to our team who will welcome you into the event. You’ll have 30 minutes of free time to hang out with friends, grab some of the food (which is all free!!), and if you’re the competitive type, play some games! If it’s your first time with us, we’d love to know so we can show you around! Note: If you’d prefer to not be in any of our photos/videos, please let our team know and we’ll give you a wristband that’ll need to be on show, so our media team know not to photograph you. 

17:45 - Move To Main Room  

Then you’ll hear the big bell ring, signalling you can go into main auditorium, where our hosts will officially welcome everyone, run an icebreaker, and go through the ever-important safety notices (such as where the toilets are...). They’ll also announce the theme for the evening – this year we’re asking the question, ‘IF God really loves us, what does that mean?’, and we’ll be unlocking as much as we can about it. 

18:00 - Hubs (Breakouts)  

Our Hubs are an interactive & creative breakout space for you to talk, connect, and have fun. Each hub focuses on either being sporty, crafty, or something totally unique. We’ll also have one hub dedicated to a ‘HOT TOPIC’ if you want to go deeper in your faith. 

18:30 - Testimony & Worship 

After the Hubs, we’ll hear testimonies from young people in different youth groups their experience and thoughts on the theme. This’ll be an opportunity for you to start thinking about the theme of the evening before heading into our first set of worship. Our worship band are wonderfully talented and can’t wait to worship with you!

19:00 - Word, Worship & Response 

Here we’ll unpack the theme a bit deeper, unlocking something new about what it means to be loved by God, as well as having opportunity to respond to what’s been shared. This is also a great opportunity for you (and your youth group) to be learning how to pray for each other in a safe space. Our team will be present to support and guide you in this – but there’s also no pressure to partake!  

19:50 - Final Announcements 

Christians love announcements and so do we! We’ll let you know about any fun events coming up (like the next Glow event) and encourage you to keep unpicking the theme of Resting in, Reflecting on, and Reaching out the Love Of God. 

20:00 - End

After a full-packed night, we’ll say our goodbyes and most likely bump into everyone again at McDonald’s. Ps. Yes, we are aware that everyone eats with us and then heads to maccies afterwards!

  • We’re grateful to The Engine House Redruth for the use of their amazing facilities.

    There is plenty of free parking available on site.

  • Yes! At every Glow we have a designated First Aider, identified by a green lanyard. This individual will have, at least, a level 3 in emergency first aid certificate. If you have any additional needs or requirements, please do get in touch with us at glow@creationfest.org.uk

  • Hubs are interactive breakout sessions that last for 30 minutes. They provide young people with the opportunity to engage with the theme of the evening in a hands-on way. The number of hubs depends on the attendance, typically ranging from 3-4 at each event. Each young person can choose one hub to attend.  

    Hubs are divided into three areas of interaction: Creative (for those interested in crafts and creating), Sports (for those who enjoy physical activities), and Discussion (for those who prefer in-depth conversations on the theme). These three areas cater to the interests and hobbies of most young people, regardless of their age or background. Various organisations and local churches are invited to plan and provide resources for each hub. We also have one hub that focuses on a ‘Hot Topic’ for those who want to go deeper.

  • Glow is for ages 11-17 to come together to creatively explore faith in Jesus in community with Christians across Cornwall.

  • Glow aims to encourage young Christians in their walk with Jesus, however every session is made accessible for those who are new to faith or are just exploring and looking for an evening of fun.

    We’re intentional on our use of language, not ‘dumbing down’ Christian theology, but using everyday language to connect ideas to the young people.

  • Yes! We’re proud to say that all of our volunteers are DBS checked and we have a designated safeguarding lead on site during the entire event.

  • We'll provide a lite bite for all attendees - we know many go to maccies after being with us as a special treat for their young people. We'll do our best to accomodate for dietary needs, please let us know when booking your tickets.

  • Doors open at 5:15pm, with the first 30 minutes being free to grab food, hang out, and get settled.

    We’ll finish our time together at 8pm.

  • While at the event, young people are free to enjoy the sessions, however we ask that no child is left in our care without a responsible adult attending with them. This can either be their youth worker or other church volunteer, or a parent/guardian.

  • If you’ve been coming to Glow for a while and are wondering what’s different about this year, here’s a quick overview of some of the bigger changes.

    HUBS: One hub option - sporty, crafty, something different like dance, or the ‘Hot Topic’ hub for those who want more depth.

    TEACHING: We’ll have a teaching block that’ll be 10 minutes, with time to initiate the response.

    TESTIMONY: Every session we’re aiming to have testimonies from young people. This’ll most likely be in the form of a panel.

    ARRIVAL: After young people sign in, we’ll be running games to create a fun vibe and get young people from different youth groups chatting together.

    END: All events will finish on time! Sorry that they haven’t been!

    DBS CHECKS: To allow full access to the event, ALL adults will need a DBS check. Those without a DBS check will have some restrictions placed upon them. This is to ensure the safety of all our young people!

    OTHER: There are also a ton of other small changes and tweaks that we’ve made to make sure that each event feels unique, fun, and memorable for the young people. This year will be Glow at its best!
